Invitation to the DR1A - antenna test

Saturday, July 4, 2009    21:00 - 21:10 UTC

14262.5 kHz, 14272.5 kHz and 14282.5 kHz +/- QRM

We have built three antenna systems for 20m (14 MHz):

5/5L20 Homemade and 4L20. Click for larger picture.   5/5L20 Cushcraft XM520. Click for larger picture.  Click for larger pictures...

All antennas will be directed to 300 degrees (USA from here). We will put out three Key-Down signals
(@ 100 watts) simultaneously and continuously on three different frequencies for 10 full minutes.
The transmission will start with a short CW announcement a few seconds before 21:00 z.
The key-down signal will be interrupted every full minute for one second as a trigger.

Please store the three frequencies in your radio’s memory or different VFOs.

Please monitor the three signals and take down reports and notes on the signal strengths
at least every full minute by quickly switching between the three frequencies.

(This should give more accurate results than the usual "antenna 1, antenna 1, antenna 1, ...,
antenna 2, antenna 2, antenna 2"
stuff...)

Please bookmark this page and come back for the antenna test.
